Analysis of the Papal Visit
Dr. Niigaan Sinclair is the son of TRC Commissioner and former Senator Murray Sinclair. In this two hour lecture he takes the audience through a very accessible overview of the Doctrine of Discovery, the history of residential schools and then to an analysis of Pope Francis’s visit to Canada, why it was important, what all went into it, and what the significance might be for moving forward. This lecture is well worth your time. It can also easily be viewed in chunks, but it helped me, as a non-catholic, understand some things I just could not make sense of through this whole process.
